ABB donates RMB 1 million to help victims in China’s snow-stricken regions

Beijing, Feb. 4, 2008 – ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, donated today RMB 1 million to China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation (CFPA) in an effort to help the needy victims in the snow-stricken regions of China.

Starting from late January, the central and southern regions of China have been over ridden by heavy snow which seriously affected the life of local residents, who suffered from unexpected coldness and subsequent power and water shortages in the past three weeks. ABB China were deeply concerned with the hard living conditions of the people and came to a quick decision to donate RMB 1 million which will be used to buy warm clothes, quilts, candles and other life necessities for the needy families.

“We have been paying close attention to the usual snow disaster and the negative outcomes,” said Brice Koch, President of ABB North Asia and China. “So many people were stranded in the snow lacking necessities. I hope the support from ABB and many others could help reduce the coldness of the winter.”

Earlier, ABB had made efficient preparations to provide efficient technical support to its power industry customers in China, opening 24 hour special hot lines, expanding components storage, etc. ABB engineers are well prepared to meet all possible types of technical demands effectively on the spot.

ABB has worked with China Federation for Poverty Alleviation closely for many years, establishing ABB New Great Wall Fund to support college students from poverty stricken area across the country.
