ABB Lummus Global and Sinopec Engineering Inc. joint venture selected as project management contractor
Beijing, China, December 17, 2004 - A joint venture between ABB Lummus Global and Sinopec Engineering Inc. today signed project management contracts for the Fujian Integrated Project, a planned world-class integrated refining and chemical complex located at Quangang, Quanzhou City near Meizhou Bay in Fujian Province of the People's Republic of China.

The multi-billion Fujian Integrated Project, is under front-end planning and development by Fujian Petrochemical Company Limited, ExxonMobil China Petroleum and Petrochemical Company, and Aramco Overseas Company B.V. It includes a 160,000 barrels-per-day (eight million tons-per-year) expansion of the existing refinery in Fujian Province, along with addition of a major petrochemical complex. Key units include a new 800,000 tons-per-year ethylene steam cracker, an IGCC (Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle) facility and several downstream derivative petrochemical units, including a polypropylene plant. The overall project start-up is targeted for the end of 2008.
ABB Lummus and Sinopec Engineering Inc. project management services will ensure a smooth, coordinated and expeditious execution of the Fujian Integrated Project. The project management scope includes Phase 1 management and coordination of technology licensors, open-art process design packages development and front-end engineering. Phase 2 will consist of the management of all aspects of the detailed engineering, procurement, construction, and start-up for the project.
