ABB ranks in the world’s top employers

Survey responded by nearly 120,000 engineering and business students at the world’s top academic institutions

Zurich, Switzerland, October 30, 2009 –ABB ranks in the top 50 employers worldwide according to the employer branding company, Universum. The rankings are based on the responses of nearly 120,000 final year engineering and business students at the world’s top academic institutions.

Students were asked to identify which companies they would consider working for, from the companies listed for their region. Each student also selected his or her five “ideal” employers. The Global Top 50 list is based on the overall number of times a company was selected across 11 markets: US, Japan, China, Germany, France, UK, Italy, Russia, Spain, Canada and India.

“We are proud of ABB’s results. They show that our strengths as an employer are well-known, the communication is working,” said Gary Steel, Head of Human Resources at ABB. “Early next year we will launch our new employer brand that will give potential recruits a better idea of what it’s like to work here.”

The new employer brand has been developed through discussions with around 1300 employees in over 20 countries and will reflect the global career opportunities and multicultural working environment offered by ABB.

ABB has been ranked among the top 10 Employers in the Energy, Electric and Chemical Industries by the China University Student Best Employer Survey conducted by a leading recruitment portal ChinaHR.com in this July.
