ABB Huadian High Voltage Switchgear celebrates its 10th anniversary in Xiamen

Commitment to localization supports China power industry with advanced technologies and equipment

Xiamen China, November 5, 2009 –ABB Huadian High Voltage Switchgear (Xiamen), a local company of ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, celebrates its 10th anniversary today. The company, one of ABB’s 27 entities in China, has from its inception been committed to technology transfer and local production. It has participated in a number of key domestic power projects, significantly contributing to the development of China’s power industry and regional economies.

Founded in 1999, ABB Huadian High Voltage Switchgear (Xiamen) leads in high voltage SF6 gas insulated switchgears (GIS) and accessories from 110kV to 550kV in China. The company has also attained major international certifications including ISO9001, ISO14001, and OHSAS 18001.

The company is committed to providing ABB group’s leading technology as local production. To date, it has introduced a number of advanced gas-insulated switchgear products including EXK-0 145kV, ELK-14 252kV and ELK3 550kV. As one of the most successful localized products, the EXK-0 145kV has met market demand for the reliable and cost efficient application of compact substations, reaching an installation base of over 1,500 units. With the introduction of the cutting edge GIS product, the ELK-3 550kV in 2008, the company helped improve the overall strength and level of China’s GIS industry significantly.

GIS products from ABB Huadian High Voltage Switchgear have been deployed in many substation projects, especially in the central region, by State Grid and Southern Grid. They have also been adopted by many key state projects to secure power reliability, including the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, the power supply of the Beijing Olympic Games, and the new compound of CCTV. In addition, the products have been applied in many other industries including transportation, petrochemical and metal. Further more, the GIS products have been shipped to India and Malaysia, promoting the strength of Chinese manufacturing and demonstrating the company’s “In China, for the world” strategy.

The company has been honored as “Xiamen Top 10 Best Enterprise” and “The Trustworthy Enterprise of Fujian Province” and has received many other government awards for outstanding performance in business development and operation.
