Energy-saving technology shows double-digit growth every year for a decade
China, September 10, 2004 – ABB, the leading power and automation technology company, today celebrated the ten-year anniversary of one of its most successful operations – ABB Beijing Drive Systems Co., Ltd.

Drives act as a converter between a power grid and a motor. They operate like the gas pedal on a car – you have the engine and the driver; if you don’t regulate the speed the motor just runs on or off. Drives are typically used in industries like metal processing, pulp and paper, petrochemicals, air-conditioning, water treatment, textile machinery, printing presses, etc. The major benefits to customers are energy savings – particularly important in light of recent power shortages in China – and improved process control.
