ABB wins US$ 6 million control system order for Jiaxing II Power Plant

Beijing, China, December 26, 2002 – ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, announced that it has received an order to supply distributed control systems for the Jiaxing Phase II, 4 x 600 MW power station in Zhejiang, a fast growing economy along the east coast of China. The contract value of US$ 6 million is the largest of its kind ever awarded to ABB in China.

The scope of supply covers the design, engineering, supply, and site services of control systems for four Chinese manufactured boilers and plant auxiliaries, as well as the balance-of-plant system based on ABB’s well proven Symphony distributed control system technology. Prior to this award, ABB received a contract to supply intelligent flame scanners for these four boilers. According to the project schedule, the first unit of this power station will be ready for commercial operation in early 2004.

This is a third major contract for Jiaxing II Power Plant. In September 2001, ABB Chongqing Transformer Co. Ltd. received an order to supply 4 groups of 500 kV/720 MVA generator step-up transformers with a total capacity of 2,880 MVA. In June 2002, ABB Xiamen Low Voltage Equipment Co. Ltd. was chosen to supply 538 units MNS type low voltage switchgears for deliveries in 2003 and 2004.
