Beijing, China, August 26, 2003 – ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, announced it has received high recognition from the Dong-Shen Water Supply Project. The ten awards include excellent E&M equipment supplier, excellent project management, and advanced co-worker cooperation.

ABB’s range of involvement for this project has included medium- and low-voltage switchgear and remote control systems from ABB Beijing High Voltage Equipment Co. Ltd., ABB Xiamen Switchgear Co. Ltd. and ABB Xiamen Low Voltage Equipment Co. Ltd.
In this three-year-project, ABB supplied 103 units of ring-main-unit medium voltage switchgear, 32 units of feeder terminal units, 74 units of MNS type low voltage switchgear and 72 panels of Unigear type ZS1 medium voltage switchgear, with a combined order value exceeding RMB 20 million. The equipment is used in three new pumping stations and more than 10 watersheds.
Dong-Shen Water Supply Project, the largest of its kind in China, was constructed in the mid 1960s to provide millions of residents in Hong Kong with relief from serious drought. Reconstruction, launched in 2000, aimed to improve both quality and quantity of the fresh water supply, was put into formal operation in June, 2003 and supplies 810 million cubic meter to Hong Kong per annum.
