Localized production of high power drives will help customers further improve energy efficiency while shorten time of delivery
Beijing, China, June 10, 2008 - ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, celebrated the factory expansion opening ceremony of ABB Beijing Drive Systems Co., Ltd today. The expanded plant introduced two of the world’s leading drives production lines. Together with the expansion, a training centre has been established to meet all-round training demands from customers and sales & service partners. After the expansion, the company’s production capacity of high-power drives will double.
The new production lines are mainly for localized production of the ACS5000A and ACS800-67/77 drives. ACS5000A is a medium voltage drive, which is characterized by high efficiency, high reliability and small footprint. It is mainly used in electric power, metallurgy, oil & petrochemical, water & sewage treatment and other heavy industries. ACS800-67/77 is dedicated to the wind power generation industry.
Chairman and President of ABB China Brice Koch said, ABB brought the concept of product vs environmental impact into its R&D 50 years ago, has brought ever since a great number of energy efficient technologies and products into the world, such as HVDC technology, which can transfer bulk power over long distance in a more efficient way while reducing power loss, high energy efficient automation products like drives and motors, energy management solution for process industry, etc.

Apart from the expansion of production lines, the company has also established a training center, with tailor-made training courses covering drives technology and all ABB drives products to meet customers’ needs. The centre has professional hardware facilities and experienced lecturers, helping distributors, service partners and customers to know more about the drive products and their energy-efficiency features.
