ABB's relief relay brings donation for Sichuan to 8.15 million RMB

Technical support on site, production in back up, employees and company join efforts in donation

May 26, 2008, Beijing - ABB (China) Ltd. made another donation of 5 million RMB to the China Red Cross Society today. So, plus its first donation of 1 million RMB to the China Red Cross Society on the second day of the earthquake, and its 2.15 million direct donation to Sichuan's relief programs on local power facilities, ABB's total donations for Sichuan amount to 8.15 million RMB.

Included in ABB's donation, there was 2.4 million RMB which comes from ABB employees' free donation across the whole country as well as the company's follow up efforts. Some ABB colleagues working in the headquarter office in Zurich also joined in their China colleagues' efforts.

Considering possible damage to the local power infrastructure facilities, ABB opened instant “green channel” service support for power customers in Sichuan right after the earthquake. So far, many ABB technical people have been sent to Mianyang as well as Chengdu and Yibin, to join in urgent power restoration efforts. ABB's many manufacturing companies in China also started priority production to back up Sichuan, so as to support the country's urgent goal of power restoration for the people in need.

ABB China Chairman and President Brice Koch said, “I share the pain of the earthquake victims, and I am also proud of our ABB people's strong commitment. Meanwhile, we understand that supporting Sichuan and rebuilding the heavily affected areas is a long process. We should all get prepared for a long journey. ”
