New technology for Xu Tang Power Plant will increase power reliability
Beijing , China April 19, 2004 - ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, said today it has won a contract worth RMB 14 million ($1.7 million) to supply low-voltage switchgears to Xu Tang Power Plant in Jiangsu.
The new technology will help Xu Tang increase the reliability of power supply in Jiangsu province, an important step in an area with heavy demand.
"We won a similar RMB12million ($1.4 million) order with this valued customer, which we delivered in September 2000," said Peter Leupp, Chairman and President of ABB (China) Ltd. "Our high quality products and successful delivery ensured Xu Tang Power Plant would return as our customer this year."
Jiangsu's provincial industry suffered heavily last year due to lack of energy. The local authorities were forced to put in place energy-saving measures, which interrupted power flow during summer.
The order came against stiff competition from other multinationals and local power companies. It includes low-voltage equipment for a pair of 300-megawatt generators at the customer's power plant. The delivery incorporates an intelligent power control system, which provides greater control and supervision for customers while preventing power transmission and distribution interruptions.
The project is expected to be complete in November 2004.
